Reem Aljeally (Sudanese, b. 1997) is a Visual Artist and Curator with a background in Architecture, graduating from the University of Khartoum in 2018. She later pursued a studio program in drawing and painting at the Khartoum Arts Training Centre (2019-2020). Reem’s artistic practice spans painting, installation, and printmaking, centering on space, memory, movement, and self-image. Her paintings often depict young women in contemplative settings, with recurring motifs such as plants and cats symbolizing comfort and compassion.
She has held solo exhibitions in Sudan and Egypt, including Garden of Fake Tulips at MASQ, Cairo (2024), and Inside The Corner Pink House at Bibliotheque Art Gallery (2024). Internationally, she has exhibited at Melike Bilir, Hamburg (2024), Casa Arabe, Madrid (2024), Saatchi Art, London (2023), Broteria, Lisbon (2023), Circle Art Gallery, Nairobi (2022), and FNB Art Joburg with Eclectica Contemporary (2022). Her residencies include Sudan Moves by Goethe-Institut (2020) and CuratorsLab by Latitudes Online & Art School Africa (2025). She has received the Wijhat Travel Grant (2022), Goethe Production Fund Grant (2023), and won 2nd place at The ANNA Award (2025).
In 2019, she founded The Muse multi studios in Khartoum, an organization supporting artists through training and exhibitions. She is also the Founder and Director of The Sudan Art Archive, preserving five decades of Sudanese artistry. Her curatorial approach explores identity, social contexts, and the evolving Sudanese contemporary art scene.
